5 Tech Predictions for 2024 (That You Haven't Heard Yet)

5 Tech Predictions for 2024 (That You Haven't Heard Yet)

As we begin a new year, the team at Compoze Labs is thrilled to offer a bold exploration into uncharted territories of technology innovation in 2024. Our projections are fueled by an intimate understanding from first-hand experience of what’s shaping the world of artificial intelligence, cloud, application development, data engineering, and more.

By this time next year, things may look a bit different - Buckle up!

1. AI Adoption: Sprint or Marathon?

A futuristic humanoid robot, embodying the latest tech trends, features a metallic, skeletal frame with orange and silver accents. Exposed circuitry on its head and chest highlights tech predictions for tomorrow. It’s viewed from a side profile against a neutral background.

According to Eric Carr, President & Head of AI at Compoze Labs:

2023 was the year of Generative AI hype. Many of our clients used this time to evaluate and prototype use cases, but 2024 is when those efforts will go to production and the business value of Gen AI will grow.

However, while Generative AI is moving much faster than prior tech waves, the adoption of Gen AI is likely slower than all of the hype expected. Use cases, iterating, and getting end-user data flywheel from usage are critical for winning the Gen AI races moving forward.

2. Going Beyond the Bandwagon

According to Paul Hilsen, CEO at Compoze Labs:

AI is set to become a commodity, much like cloud technology. Simply jumping on the bandwagon and declaring "We use AI!" won't be a silver bullet for business success as its use becomes widespread. Businesses will have to take it many steps further.

The true game-changer is in how you uniquely integrate AI into the right products and processes, aligning closely with your specific business needs and vision.

3. A Cloud Operations Revolution

A stylized illustration of a sun partially hidden behind two clouds, set against an orange circular background with artistic swirls and dots, subtly echoes the dynamic energy of tech trends.

According to Andrew Larsen, Chief Technology Officer at Compoze Labs:

Forget the usual suspects—Terraform, Cloudformation, Azure Resource Manager—Platform Ops tooling is taking center stage. We envision a streamlined future where common cloud tasks like web, API, and message-driven architectures are tackled effortlessly.

In 2024, we predict a chat-based revolution, rewriting the code for cloud ops. No more syntax struggles as Generative AI steps up as the new interface. A simple command like "build a three-tier web app" links seamlessly with platform ops tooling, eliminating the need for declarative code.

Within the mix of cloud giants, Compoze Labs’ native cloud technology, Compoze.io, eliminates the need for repetitive engineering efforts and complex scripts, allowing innovation to take the main stage for our clients.

4. Down with Microservices

According to Andrew Larsen, Chief Technology Officer at Compoze Labs:

Microservice architecture has seemed to become the default way in which we structure our software systems. While microservices do offer advantages of isolation, scalability, availability, etc, by the nature of simply having more moving parts, this also added complexity to our systems.

We predict that companies are going to start to move away from a microservice-first architecture and build more monolithic systems. As those systems grow, and constraints such as isolation, scalability, and availability become more important, these monolithic systems can be broken down into more manageable microservice-like architectures.

5. The Era of Data as a Product

According to Andrew Larsen, Chief Technology Officer, and Eric Carr, President & Head of AI at Compoze Labs:

This year will be the era of embracing "Data as a Product." Companies are intensifying their focus on building agile data competencies, especially as Generative AI continues to revolutionize our approach to unstructured data. Investment in robust data platforms supports the creation of agile and rapid data pipelines, leveraging the power of generative AI to decipher both structured and unstructured data for informed decision-making.

Orange and white fireworks burst against a dark sky, much like the unexpected sparks of tech predictions lighting up the horizon. The vibrant display captures the energetic and festive atmosphere that mirrors the excitement surrounding emerging tech trends.

2024 is set to be another exciting year for technological innovation and advancement, and we’re thrilled to see how our predictions play out. Make sure to check back regularly for updates, bold predictions, and first-hand client success stories from the Compoze Labs team throughout the year. What are your organization’s technology goals for 2024? We’d love to hear them.
